Phone calls, voicemails, and emails were this week's focus in ISM as we prepared to contact professionals. Already having compiled a list of attorneys and litigators in the Frisco area (and some outside as well), we spent the bulk of this week learning the appropriate ways to reach out to them. I set up my voicemail for the first time to reflect a more professional tone and I also sent out my first email for a mentor interview! At first, I was scared that I would not hear back or that they would be unwilling. Instead, they seemed equally as interested in the ISM program. We set up an interview for next Wednesday that I am really looking forward to. I have never spoken with an attorney or anyone who has actually completed the demanding process of becoming a lawyer, so I think that this conversation will be extremely insightful regardless of what the outcome is.

Another thing that I have been trying to focus on is looking for positives in every situation in order to reduce my nerves. For example, the interview that I have scheduled for next week would typically cause me to be extremely worried and overthink every little detail. However, I have tried to reframe my mindset by focusing on everything that could go right instead. I believe that this shift will allow me to approach life with a growth mindset instead of a fixed mindset, which is another thing that we covered in ISM this week. We discussed the importance of having such a mindset and how, ultimately, those who are capable of reacting to failure and hardship in a healthy and positive manner are much more successful.
